Greetings.
I have been helping people improve their English
communication skills for 25 years. The people I train are business
people, most of them German. I love my work because the people I
teach are very interesting and motivated to learn. I am also
motivated because I believe helping people to learn is a noble
activity.
I was born in Indiana, a state in the USA. I
studied English at Indiana State University and graduated with a
Bachelor degree and a license to teach secondary school. My first
job was at a suburban high school outside Chicago, Illinois. I
taught literature, writing, grammar and drama.
In 1981, I moved to Germany, and began teaching
English in the Munich area. In 1985, I took a position at Siemens AG
in their
corporate personnel department. We were responsible for the language
and intercultural training of Siemens’ middle and upper management.
In 1991, I left to start my own business, Sonner English
Communication Training. Since then, I have
conducted many seminars on soft-skills topics (presentations,
meetings, cross-cultural communication, team communication) and
hundreds of hours of English language training.
My outside interests
include hiking in the mountains, basketball, cross-country skiing,
and jogging. I am also
very interested in the deeper meaning of life.
My reading ranges from current political events to philosophy and
metaphysics.
