                Individual Training

Hundreds of German business people have improved their English skills with my help over the last 25 years.

I would welcome the opportunity to help more people improve their performance and achieve more of their professional goals.

Groups and Sessions

The recommended group size is from 2 to 6 with individual sessions also available.
Sessions are normally 90 minutes long and meet once or twice a week.

Groups are formed with people who are at similar language levels — from lower intermediate to advanced.

Targets

Speaking practice — as much as possible
Larger, more flexible vocabulary (general as well as work-related vocabulary)
Improved listening comprehension
Improved reading comprehension
Grammatical accuracy
More effective writing skills

Increased confidence / loss of fear

Methods and Materials

Texts and audio-video material are taken from the Internet as well as standard educational publications.
Materials can also come from the participants (for example, emails, Powerpoint slides, company brochures and advertising).
While the material is being input, analyzed and discussed, the trainer gives correction and feedback.
Important information — new words and phrases, idioms, language rules and structures — is projected onto a screen and sent to the participants by email later.

Participants use the new language information in discussions, informal presentations, role plays, games, language exercises, and so on.

PHILOSOPHY OF TRAINING

To be successful, learning should ...

be meaningful.  The materials and activities used in class should be business-related or of current interest or both.
be active.  By participating in discussions and learning activities, learners remember more and gain confidence.

be safe.  It should take place in a relaxed (yet concentrated) environment where correction and feedback are not feared. Humor helps.
